(Info4now, December 28, 2021)- It was a great opportunity for England to gain some lead and bowl Australia in the fourth innings. But no. It was not. At the end of the second day’s play they reeled in 31-4. The middle order collapsed very early on Day 3 and they got all out scoring just 68 that decided England’s loss by an innings and 14 runs in the AUS vs ENG 3rd Test.

With four important changes, one in the top order, one in the middle and two for the bowling department, England looked just the same. They got out in just 185 in the first innings. The crisis in fearless cricket and at the same time the lack of patient technical defence come out to be the premier reason.

England executed their plan very poorly. With the ball coming to the stump, every batsman excluding Joe Root hesitated a lot. They didn’t get to the pitches of the ball. Australia are playing almost the same team that played against India earlier this year. Not in the best of their forms, they really took on English bowlers. And it was the key. 

No Plan B from England

What England should have done in the AUS vs ENG 3rd Test was to follow the condition of the game. The top order batsmen should have targeted the bowlers. They must have got to the pitches of the deliveries. If they had their plan B, things might have changed. 

A champion Jimmy Anderson with the others kept his word as he thought it was the poor performance of the batsmen. Having bagged four in the first innings, he must be disappointed not to bowl for the second time. Australia were clinical not only in their performance but also in their plan. The selection of a young local boy worked for Justin Langer.

To Conclude

Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc with all their experiences did not let the young English openers get settled. They were excellent with their line. Very close to the stump they deliver almost every delivery with disciplined length. As none could unsettle them, they freed a young Victoria paceman Boland to enjoy a sensational debut.
