Info4now- With 50% chance of a draw on Day 5, both England and New Zealand had very little chance to make ENG vs NZ 2nd Test a result orienting contest. But an exceptional chase at Trent Bridge hands England a magical victory. With so many good spells from the bowlers on a batting surface and some great innings from the batters, Johnny Bairstow gets past all with a fiery 136 off 92 deliveries on his memorable way to a terrific chase.

Earlier, Ben Stokes won the toss and elected to bowl to maximize the opportunity for his bowlers on a batting wicket and his bowlers didn’t upset him. Jimmy Anderson strikes early and the unit knocks out four of the opposition. Then an in-form Daryl Mitchell and wicket keeper Tom Blundell change the game. An exceptional 190 from Mitchell and a century from Blundell take New Zealand to massive 553.

Joe Root entered ten thousand runs club in the last test and here he gets past Younis Khan and Sunil Gavaskar as he makes another century on Day 3. Two long partnerships with centurion Ollie Pope and Ben Stokes take England close to New Zealand’s first innings total. Day 4 closes with the chance of a draw on Day 5.

Day 5: ENG vs NZ 2nd Test, New Zealand tour of England 2022

New Zealand set a huge target of 299 for England in the final innings and they force England 56 for 3. Even it was a batting turf, on the final Day it was very tough to survive after such a nervous start against a top quality bowling side. As England cross 100 they lose Alex Lees and it was all in the hands of Stokes and Bairstow. After Tea, it was all T20 as the required 160 comes in quick time and England got back to their own style of Test cricket.
