Cricket Moments of the Decade (2011-2020)

(Info4now)- I am furnishing here the best moments of 10 year cricket( cricket moments of the decade) only the way I remember it. For me, it was not possible to watch every good match on account of my other phenomena of life to attend. Therefore,  I’ll try my best to go well down the memory lane and write those oozed from that memory.

 First half

Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh’s unbeaten partnership against Australia in ICC World Cup 2011 quarter final is one of my best cricketing moments I’ll cherish forever. With 260 to chase, India lost five wickets and suddenly the match shifted to Australia’s favour. And after that this duo dismissed Australia from the competition.

Zaheer Khan’s opening spell in the final of the same tournament will remain as the dream spell in the true sense of intelligent bowling. Therefore, one of my favourites.

Kolkata knight Riders’ journey towards the first ever title run in 2012 was worth watching as they managed to carry out excellent field work under Gambhir and Akram.

Alastair Cook beat India in India in 2012. Against top quality spin bowling of India, England registered 2-1 win in the four match series. One of my best competitions in the decade in regard to an overseas team’s success in the subcontinent.

West Indies in Sri Lanka lifted their first ever T20 title in 2012.

Faf Du Plessis’s debut match in late 2012. The way his unbeaten Innings at Adelaide helped South Africa save the match was to remember for times to come.

M.S.Dhoni won Champions Trophy in 2013 and Ishant Sharma’s final over was a Dhoni like decision ever made.

Malinga in 2014 picked fifth Twenty20 World Cup, it being an excellent tribute to Dilshan, Sangakara and Jayawardene.

Michael Clarke retired from International cricket rescuing the champion’s tag on Australia in 2015 ICC World Cup.

Second half

West Indies won their second T20 title as Carlos Braithwaite made history at Eden Garden, Kolkata. With 21 to chase down, he hit four consecutive sixes against current time top athlete Ben Stokes. Darren Sammy became the only captain to receive the trophy for the second time.

In IPL 2016, Virat Kohli scored four hundreds and it was just terrific while he was not in blue.

Pakistan won their first ever ICC Champions Trophy at Kennington Oval’s in 2017 and Mohammad Amir’s spell against Rohit, Dhawan and Kohli will be remembered for long.

Chennai Super Kings won their third title and it was a top moment, as Dhoni, back to captaincy in 2018, stood tall.

India won Border-Gavaskar series 2018/19 in Australia as they beat them 2-1 and it was the maiden victory of Indian test side in Australia.

The final match of ICC World Cup at Lord’s in 2019 is the best final in the history of World Cup final, I think, in which one best side and another with the best captain locked horns. The match went for a tie and a super over also went for a tie. A decision to make England champion with already set ICC rules for such situation received mixed reviews. But to me England were a champion from the start of the tournament. On the other hand, the way New Zealand went through to the final was exceptional. Kane Williamson’s captaincy in the tournament offers a good many beautiful moments for you.

Ben Stokes’ innings against Australia in 2019 Ashes. With 9 wickets down, he chased down the required run scoring a dazzling 135. That celebration of Stokes was one of the top moments of the Era.

Jimmy Anderson, a genuine legend of our era, picked up his 600th test wicket in the midst of Covid-19 Pandemic. Being a swing bowling friendly cricket lover, it’s the best moment for me.
