(Info4now, February 18, 2022)- India beat West Indies by 8 runs in IND vs WI 2nd T20, as they seal the series tonight at Eden Garden, Kolkata. With 187 to chase, West Indies get close to the target, but Rohit Sharma keeps his nerve to draw it in his favour. Although it was a thrilling contest, West Indies must think either way before landing on Australian soil.

Kieron Pollard wins the toss,  and elects to field, it being an easy decision against the dew in the second half. With the ball West, Indies have been excellent since their start of the tour. Today they start well also. With dew still to come, Pollard starts with Akeal Hosein. But the right-arm off spinner Roston Chase delivers an excellent spell in the middle.

Sheldon Cottrell picks Ishan Kishan early in the innings. And a good stand between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma keeps the scoreboard rolling. But Roston Chase was superb. He mixes his deliveries well. He bowls very fast off and on and continues to change the length. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav become prey to Chase’s magical brainwork on the field.

As Virat Kohli falls, Rishabh Pant and Venkatesh Iyer build a fantastic partnership and what they do best is that they quickly change the game with a jump in scoring run rate. It was a superfast fifth wicket partnership of 76 from just 35 deliveries. India finish things off beautifully and set a target of 187.

India back to bowl, send two openers back in time. Even with dew getting the ball wet, two frontline spinners were excellent in their roles. Then the long partnership between Rovman Powell and Nicholas Pooran seems to take away the game from India. But the increasing required run rate was the problem. Experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar gives just 4 runs in the 19th over forcing West Indies to get an improbable 25 from 6. West Indies fall short of 8 finally.
