(Info4now, April 10, 2022)– Anrich Nortje returns to the playing side of Delhi Capitals and bowls two waist high no balls. Apart from being discarded to bowl, Nortje produced enough runs that no away gave Delhi a chance to defend an average first innings score. As KKR vs DC contest to take place on a fine track of Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai,  it’s again how Nortje makes a comeback here.

Whether it was a surprising knock from Pat Cummins against a pointless Mumbai or it was his earlier assessment of wicket before being fearless will always be at issue. But the strength down the order that Kolkata Knight Riders possess is a real problem for any opposition. As the middle order is still semi settled, KKR are happy accepting the bonus at that level.

As Warner joins the camp on his return from Pakistan, Delhi have fantastic opening pair. Prithvi Shaw is not sound in technique, but superb in taking the bowlers on. He is a little bit better than earlier with his feet movement. He spends very little time on the wicket, but he makes it interesting until his departure. Rovman Powell is a hard hitter of the cricket ball and he should take the responsibility not to offer any upper hand to KKR’s slowers.

I think Nortje will be very fine against KKR and might take the new ball alongside Mustafizur. As KKR’s top order is still a little bit tentative, it’ll be better to apply speed from both ends. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel have to be very accurate.

As Pat Cummins plays a sensational knock against Mumbai, the repairing of the top order in the form of Venkatesh Iyer’s comeback gets lost. But against an experienced side like Mumbai Indians, he took the game away from the opposition in a slow but steady process. It’s a matter of time if Shreyas Iyer is not at his best. It’s a long batting line down the order.

Tim Southee is much more comfortable than Cummins on this surface with his close to stumps deliveries. With excellent seam position, he continuously targets the stumps. But a royal comeback to the side will probably be cherished and Cummins must continue against Delhi Capitals. Umesh Yadav will grow in confidence as he still holds the purple cap. Rasikh Salam was introduced in the last game. But against Delhi, Shivam Mavi might be brought back to the Playing XI.  Two frontline spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy will continue.

To Conclude

Brabourne Stadium to host the KKR vs DC contest, it being the first for KKR and second for Delhi Capitals. Rahul Tewatia hit two sixes in a row in last two balls of the innings to materialize a successful chase. So it’s a fine track to bat and for the bowlers, there are some spaces to bowl. It has a little grass on it and the turf looks hard. Still the bowlers have to be very calculative, if one side is shorter. It’s a day game and Delhi Capitals must prevent KKR from getting an easy extension of points.

Kolkata Probable Playing XI

Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, Shreyas Iyer, Sam Billings, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Tim Southee/Pat Cummins, Umesh Yadav, Shivam Mavi and Varun Chakravarthy.
