Info4Now (Kolkata)- An interview from one Tamal Bhattacharya, a returnee, makes things topsy turvy on the ground reality of current situation in Afghanistan. Tamal, a teacher of science stream in Kardan International School, is all praise for the Taliban. On reaching his hometown Kolkata, he admits that the situation we are imagining from here, a far cry, is just the opposite. Later a Bengali TV channel talks to him right at his residence.

He starts with how he was rescued from the uncomfortable environment in Afghanistan. But he has enough problems with the term ‘uncomfortable’ or ‘horrible’. He thinks there is no such situation at all. He was taken care of by the Taliban commanders. Even he was better served than earlier. He repeatedly rejects the issue of harassment and kidnapping.

He explains what their plans are for a new Afghanistan. He feels that it’s much different from that of 90’s. Their only target is the development of the country under Sharia law. He says the law is not an issue at all as Saudi Arabia too maintains the law and people from several parts of the globe go there to earn money.

On firing on people at Kabul Airport, he tells the journalist that it was fired by U.S Force and was an accident. He informs that enough U.S troops are there at the airport and there is no fire from Taliban at that sector. Asked about the people still to be evacuated, he gives a message for them. He requested all to contact the home ministry of Afghanistan and just listen to them.

Questioned on the political crisis in Afghanistan, Mr. Bhattacharya was reluctant to react. ” I am not a political person. Not an expert in International Relationship. But we all have to listen to them. We must give them time.”

To Conclude:

A week earlier Afghanistan was captured by the Taliban and there was a fall of the previous government. With the emergence of the Taliban, a fear emerged in people of Afghanistan. Foreigners too got choked and started hurrying into the airport.

Though the foreigners are taken care of, the locals are still to be convinced. Time will answer whether they can adjust with the inhabitants of Afghanistan or vice versa. It’s the country for which both the internal and external issues are major ones.
