CPI(M) West Bengal: What to Rectify

(Info4now, September 24, 2022) – If there is no MLA of CPI(M) in West Bengal, it’s nothing of any surprise. The well-cultivated land of CPIM never gets sterile even if they are not in the race. When they are again on the rise, there are a lot they must avoid.

What are you thinking about the well-cultivated land? You must be thinking about their idealism. No. I am not speaking of it. It’s something I can never prove. It’s something that remains silent and it’s that silence that raises the slogan against them.

It’s the way through which BJP eases into. The comrades were very vocal against RSS or BJP and they very successfully denied their rise in West Bengal. A Mamata Banerjee can do nothing for the BJP. A Mamata Banerjee can never make a way for Hindutva, with her soft politics. It was how CPI(M) ruled West Bengal for 34 years.

Have the people of Bengal made a mistake in placing Mamata for the third time? No. What can they do? People were divided into two separate thoughts— communalism and liberalism. It was not about any community or party. And the old voters of CPI(M) went for communalism.

People who were liberals went for Mamata Banerjee. So the leaders of CPI(M) must bring in the newness. They mustn’t bring back anything like that. To protest the ‘gundami’ of Trinamool Congress they must not speak of any polished culture that has already ruined them.

Can they promise a joint hand of Pratikur and Srijan? Can they promise a joint hand of Sujan-Selim? They never did it earlier. Official statements and the on-ground reality must not differ. The politics of class is not going to rescue CPI(M) again. If they are against any corruption of recruitment, they must promise sympathy in an interview board. If official corruption is a problem, unofficial preference is nothing less.

Still They Can Move Forward

  • In the unstable situation of West Bengal, anybody can join the comrades in their protest against the interim impasse. They are strict in their own ideology. So a common person like me can offer his support to a disciplined party.
  • BJP’s protests get immediately flat to the sensible people of Bengal as they rule in the Centre where they govern unsuccessfully. In almost every department they match Trinamool’s policies — either it’s a freebie culture or it’s about mob lynching. Besides, none can match Trinamool or BJP in their respective lies.
  • A psychological approach to money dominating second generation Banerjee or Shah is also an issue. They live luxurious lives (no matter it’s white or black) and it scatters throughout their other leaders. We, people of Bengal, are very critical against people who live over-luxurious lives i.e. a jealousy can work for CPI(M) supporters.
  • It’s a matter of time to return their minority votes and it’s even easier to get back the Hindu votes. As BJP has none to lead a constructive protest especially in the remote part of Bengal, CPI(M) can dream a dream start from an absolute Zero. The voters of Bharatiya Janata Party are just the reflection of their leaders. They come back home and decide their votes watching either Television or any WhatsApp University, but completely loath to get exposed on the road.

Conclusion

It’s not important to focus on the newness or criticize what went wrong. Rather they must inculcate what went wrong and after all they must not forget that honesty is the best policy. It’s time to concentrate on the protest or reconstructing the leadership. With the waning of Congress and the rise of an indiscipline Aravind Kejriwal, it’s just the darkness ahead in India. If it’s not the time for CPI(M), then when?
