IPL 2021 KKR vs Rajasthan Royals: Match 18

(Info4Now)– We expected a lot this year from Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. But so many heart-breakings crippled them. Kolkata Knight Riders conceded too many runs against Chennai Super Kings. Though it’s a high scoring wicket at Wankhede, 220 was out of the calculation. KKR started the tournament with some special performance from the bowling unit, but failed to keep it intact against RCB and CSK. With a strong combination of Sunil Narine, Varun Chakraborty, Pat Cummins and Prasidh Krishna, they let it go without any plan. There are so many classes in the bowling unit including variations in the attack. It’s KKR’s strong zone and this is why the camp will go with plan B immediately.

With an imbalanced bowling group, Rajasthan are dependent much on their batting. In the last contest both Jos Buttler and David Miller failed and Sanju Samson also got trapped very softly. These batting giants should return to ease as they are not impressive with the ball so far.

Preview of Match 18, KKR vs RR, IPL 2021:

Manan Vohra is going through a tough phase and for Rajasthan Royals it’s time to introduce Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top. Whether it works or not, they must go for new ones. Jos Buttler and David Miller being the premier warriors of the Royals should be more disciplined. Riyan Parag is completely unutilised. The young fellow must be sure of his job. Down the order Rahul Tewatia and Shreyas Gopal can bat more than a little. But the middle order must let them play their own games.

Chris Morris can be replaced by someone like Andrew Tye or someone else. As pressure is building up for the routine players, fresh legs might bring change. The spinners have to be very calculative on a high scoring pitch like this.

Punjab Kings played a few from the bench and they quite tactically beat Mumbai Indians the last night in a low scoring game on an unproductive wicket of Chennai. Pat Cummins might be allowed some rest and Lockie Ferguson’s time has come to get into the business. Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy are fine with their lines and variations, and must be supported by the pacers.

As I said in the last preview of Match 10, KKR vs RCB, Kolkata cannot hold onto the top three batsmen more. They have to introduce either from the bench or move up someone from the middle. We expect a little bit of change in the batting unit. Dinesh Karthik should be moved up the order, and Subhman Gill and Tripathi can be replaced by fresh ones. Morgan is fully out of touch and it’s a serious problem for KKR.

To Conclude:

Captaincy has become a problem for both the sides. It’s very important when it’s very tough to defend. One of the teams is going to earn two points after losing three matches. So it’s a very important game for both the sides. The loss will be very costly at this stage of their run.
