(Info4now, November 14, 2021)- After the ball tampering scenario in South Africa, Australia were searching for a fine and smooth recognition from world cricket. They lost two home series against India and got out of 2019 World Cup in the semi final. In Ashes ’19, they recovered a bit in the middle with 2-2 finish. And here in Dubai, they rescued the champion’s tag and beat New Zealand by 8 wickets.

It was a high profile game…a final…it was Australia vs New Zealand… but there was no excitement of a final… only because it was the nice Kiwi team on the one side, and unconventional silence from team Australia on the other. It was beautiful to watch the way both teams respected the game condition. They needn’t require to play any mind games. They played only cricket without taking any pressure of a world cup final.

Williamson knew well that there were none to take on Australian giants. Devon Conway was out and a middle order lost the commitment of going. So a captain like him immediately dipped down into the game. A gorgeous innings of 85 from Williamson took New Zealand to 172 and, of course, was not enough to defend at Dubai International Stadium.

With the sudden come back in the middle order against Pakistan, Australia’s top order got the license to free their hands. A prepared Mitch Marsh and a calculative Warner took the game away from New Zealand very comprehensively. They never let the off-form Santner be settled and Ish Sodhi too had nothing to stop against veteran spin playing Warner.

To conclude, it was a good journey for New Zealand too. But a feeble middle order and an irregular spin duo were not enough. On the other hand Australia’s great bowling line, developed more with the progress of the tournament, and an experienced T20 middle order did the job for the Aussies. After England’s maiden World Cup in ODI, New Zealand’s in Test Championship, it was maiden T20 title for Australia.
